Meet Christopher Miller, Licensed Acupuncturist in Portland
Over a decade of experience in Alchemical Acupuncture and holistic healing.
Hi, I'm Christopher Miller, a Licensed Acupuncturist practicing in Portland, Oregon for over a decade. I specialize in Alchemical Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, helping patients with chronic pain, stress management, fertility support, and emotional wellness.
My Journey to Whole-Care
The conventional medical system told me I was "fine."
But I was anything but fine. After a severe and rare tick disease nearly took me down, I realized that healing isn't just about fixing what's broken—it's about growing into who we're meant to be.
That's when I discovered something revolutionary: what if healing could help you not just feel better, but become MORE? More present. More whole. More alive.
Most healthcare treats symptoms. I practice whole-care.
Because your body isn't separate from your mind. Your pain isn't separate from your purpose. Your healing isn't separate from your growth.
When someone comes to my Pearl District practice, they're not just getting acupuncture—they're stepping into a world where healing means growing up into your full potential, cleaning up what no longer serves, waking up to deeper awareness, and showing up fully for your life.
This is what's possible when we treat the whole human, not just the symptoms.

Christopher is a gifted, compassionate healer. His sessions are transformative and have helped me move through the world differently. I came in with some of the worst acute neck and shoulder pain I’ve ever experienced and left the session not only pain-free, but with a new experience of joyfully being in my body. Words do not do justice to the impact of his work.

Chris is a true gift to humanity. The healing & growth that I have had in his space has been incredible. From our very first meeting he did an excellent job of creating a safe & expansive space for me, and as a person who’s experienced a fair amount of trauma that is no small thing. Whether it’s in a chair across from him, or on his table, I always know I am in capable & trustworthy hands. Chris doesn’t just apply healing to you, but invites you to be part of the process & shares his wisdom & understanding freely so that you walk away feeling not only lighter, but also more empowered. Highly recommend for anyone!

Frequently Asked Questions about Acupuncture in Portland
-
Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on the body with thin, sterile needles. This stimulation helps regulate your nervous system, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote your body's natural healing response. From a traditional Chinese medicine perspective, acupuncture balances the flow of qi (energy) through your body's meridian pathways.
-
Acupuncture is effective for a wide range of conditions including chronic pain, headaches and migraines, stress and anxiety, depression, digestive issues, fertility concerns, menstrual irregularities, insomnia, and many others. The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture as an effective treatment for over 40 conditions.
-
Most patients find acupuncture very relaxing. The needles are much thinner than injection needles, and insertion typically feels like a small pinch or pressure. Many people fall asleep during treatment!
-
Treatment frequency depends on your condition and health goals. Acute conditions may improve quickly with just a few sessions, while chronic conditions typically require weekly treatments for 6-12 weeks, followed by maintenance visits. During your initial consultation, Christopher will discuss a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
-
Yes, acupuncture is very safe when performed by a licensed acupuncturist. Christopher Miller uses only sterile, single-use needles and follows all Oregon health department safety protocols. Serious side effects are extremely rare.
-
Your first appointment includes a comprehensive consultation where Christopher reviews your health history, current symptoms, and wellness goals. He'll examine your tongue and feel your pulse, which provide important diagnostic information in Chinese medicine. Your first acupuncture treatment typically lasts 60-90 minutes.
-
Absolutely! Acupuncture works well alongside conventional medical treatments, chiropractic care, massage therapy, and other healing modalities. Always inform all your healthcare providers about the treatments you're receiving.
